The Department of Mathematics and Statistics was established in 1988. Initially Computer Sciences was its part but in November 1999, Computer Sciences was established as an independent department. In the beginning the department introduced various programmes in Computer Science and presently the department is offering courses at Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC), Bachelor, Master, MPhil and PhD levels.
Objectives :
To initiate the courses of Mathematics and Statistics at all levels i.e. for secondary, higher secondary, graduation and post graduation levels.
To develop these courses according to distance education format.
To offer these courses according to distance education format.
To prepare courses of Mathematics and Statistics for other departments like Management, Computer Sciences, Physics, etc.
To encourage research activities, MPhil and PhD in Mathematics will be offered.
