What is the maximum time span to finish my research work in MSc Community Health and Nutrition?

The maximum time span to finish the research work in MSc Community Health and Nutrition is about three years after the synopsis workshop. The initial period allowed to complete the thesis is one year. An extension of six months beyond one year is allowed twice by the Chairperson. Any extension beyond initial two years is approved by the Dean on the recommendation of the concerned Chairperson. The student is required to pay fee equal to one credit of Master’s level programme concerned, for every extension of six months beyond initial period allowed i.e. one year. After three years the thesis topic will be cancelled automatically and the whole process will be repeated again.

In order to do M.Sc Community Health and Nutrition, am I supposed to do the PGD first?

Yes, because it’s a PGD leading to MSc programme. You are supposed to complete the five credits for either PGD in Dietetics or PGD in Nutrition to get eligible for the MSc Community Health and Nutrition programme.

If PGD is necessary to do M.Sc, will I get both diploma and degree in the end?

Yes, you will get both diploma and degree in the end.

Is there any criterion for doing the masters in Community Health and Nutrition after PGD?

The person who has successfully completed the five credits of either PGD, would be considered eligible for the MSc Community Health and Nutrition programme.

Am I supposed to attend all the tutorials and workshops during M.Sc Community Health and Nutrition Programme?

Both tutorials and workshops are conducted to facilitate the students and should be attended. Workshops are compulsory and marks obtained in these workshops are included in the final result. But in case of tutorials, these are not compulsory and can be missed in emergency.

I am a nurse. Can I work as a Dietician after getting the diploma in Dietetics?

No, you can’t work as a Dietician after getting the diploma in Dietetics. Dietetics is another field and to become a Dietician, one is supposed to do graduation or post graduation in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics. This diploma is just to make aware about the general therapeutic requirements of the patients.

After doing HSSC Family and Community Health, can I apply for admission in medical college?

No, you cannot apply for the medical college. Although it covers the courses like chemistry and biology, but this programme is specially designed for health workers that can complement their vocational and professional training.

Which option the doctors have to take among Design concepts of Nutritional Epidemiology and Medical sciences in PGD Nutrition?

Medical Sciences 860 course is compulsory for Dieticians whereas Design concepts of Nutritional Epidemiology 864 is one of the compulsory courses for Physicians.
