Ms. Shazia Nazir

I always wanted to be a doctor but because of high merit, I was not able to achieve my goal. During those stressful days, I came to know about this unique programme of B.Sc Optometry & Ophthalmic Technology through a newspaper. This was a new field and some how related to medical side, so I decided to go for it. After the initial phases of admission I started my classes in Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad. Initially it was little difficult for me but with the help of my tutors, colleagues and due to my own commitments and dedication, I was able to overcome all problems. After the completion of course work, I completed my internship in Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) and finally got B.Sc degree in Optometry & Ophthalmic Technology.

On the basis of B.Sc Optometry & Ophthalmic Technology, I got admission in “Orthoptics” programme of Pakistan Institute of Ophthalmology (PIO) Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital Rawalpindi. Now I am working as “Orthoptist” in Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital for the last 2 ½ years. This programme of Allama Iqbal Open University has really enabled me to serve the community to overcome avoidable blindness and become a useful member of the society.

Now I am looking forward to get admission in B.Sc Honours programme of Allama Iqbal Open University to further improve my studies and polish my skills.

I appreciate the efforts of Prof. Dr. Perveen Liaqat, Chairperson department of Home & Health Sciences for launching this skillful and professional programme. I am also grateful to Mrs. Hajra Ahmad whose encouragement and support helped me to achieve my goal.
