M.A Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
Introduction: 
The MA TEFL, which is a 30 credit hour programme and is aimed at training English language teachers, was launched in the earely 1990s. This programme, which offers courses that cover theoretical as well as practical aspects of English language teaching, can be very useful not only for those teachers who are already teaching English but also for the ones who want to teach English as a foreign or second language in future.

Admission Requirement: 
Candidates with a 30 credit hour Diploma in TEFL or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution are eligible for admission. Candidates with a 24 credit hour diploma / equivalent qualification are also eligible for admission, but later, they have to complete the 6 credit hour workshop component of the Diploma TEFL programme as a make up course. Such candidates can do this make up course before admission to MA also. Admissions are awarded on merit keeping the regional/provincial quota in view if required. Candidates' academic record and teaching experience may also be taken into consideration for admissions.
Selection Process: 
Admission forms are received in the department. The Admission Committee working under a seniour faculty member examines all the forms and prepares a list of the candidates selected for admission. The list is then sent to the Directorate of Admissions. The candidates who are selected for admission are informed about their admission and instructed by the Directorate of Admissions to pay the fee according to the approved procedure.

one year: two semesters

ENGLISH
Teaching Methodology: 
The students have to attend compulsory classes, write assignments and work on the projects assigned to them by the department for each course they study. They have to submit project reports to their tutors and give presentations on their reports in the presentation workshops. Both the project report and the presentation are evaluated. The students have to obtain pass marks in each component to pass the course. At the end of the semester, they have to appear in the final exam for each course. The marks obtained in the assignments, project reports, presentaion of reports and the final paper/exam are taken into account for declaring the result.

The students have to complete 30 credit hour courses (including 12 credit hour thesis).

Workshop: 
In the last semester, the students have to attend a mandatory workshop on research methodology for writing the thesis which is a compulsory component of the programme.
Thesis: 
Sudents have to work under the guidance of thsis supervisor appointed by the department according to the approved format.
Practical:
In the workshop, the students have to present their research proposals for writing thesis.
Viva:
