As a National University AIOU serves its students through a network of thirty six regional centers to provide assistance and instructional support. In smaller towns AIOU has appointed regional coordinators to assist prospective and already enrolled students. Prospectuses for all programmes including admission forms are available from all regional offices and coordinators. For the continuing students admission forms are being mailed to you. In case admission forms do not reach you on time you can download continuing admission forms from AIOU website also. I urge you to read the instructions related to the admission process given in the prospectuses carefully and send all the necessary documentation with your admission forms to facilitate timely admission. AIOU has increased the number of banks and branches where you can deposit your fees. Habib Bank and its branches can also be used alongwith National Bank, First Women Bank, Allied Bank and Bank Alfalah branches. Please note that bank drafts and pay orders will not be accepted.
Allama Iqbal Open University enrolls over 700,000 students each semester. I urge you to apply early and complete your admission process as soon as possible without waiting for the September 5 deadline. This deadline will NOT be extended. Like the Spring, 2008 semester, we plan on mailing the instructional materials to students, early to give them more time to study, complete the assignments and prepare for the examinations.
For every semester AIOU appoints more than twenty five thousand tutors in twelve hundred study centers to provide instructional support to all our students. In the past attendance has not been mandatory for the students.
I urge you to contact your assigned tutors as soon as you get information about them and the study center assigned to you. Make every effort to avail the tutorial support and discuss your assignments with your tutors. Seek guidance from them about improving the quality of your scholarly work.
AIOU has embarked on a programme to monitor the tutorial support provided and quality of assignments done by the students. AIOU has reaffirmed its policy on academic ethics. Disciplinary action will be taken against those who violate the policy on plagiarism.
Finally let me remind you that AIOU will be able to accomplish its mission to transform lives and serve society to build a brighter future only when we all cultivate ethical scholarly behaviors and dispositions.
