Introduction

The Diploma in Islamic Finance program offered by the Department of Islamic Thought, History, and Culture, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad. This program is meticulously designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of Islamic finance principles and practices, emphasizing Shariah compliance. The Diploma in Islamic Finance program at AIOU is developed to offer students a fundamental grasp of the principles governing Islamic finance. This program is structured to equip learners with essential knowledge and skills required to comprehend and engage with the dynamic landscape of Islamic finance while upholding the principles of Islam.

OBJECTIVES

To Gain a thorough understanding of Islamic finance principles, practices, and Shariah rulings.
To Develop a solid foundation in core subjects such as Islamic banking, finance, and Shariah principles.
To Acquire practical skills essential for entry-level roles in the Islamic finance industry. To Explore Islamic business and finance within the context of Islamic economics, providing a well-rounded perspective.

Introduction

The BS Islamic Studies (General) – 2 Years program is designed to provide students with in-depth and structured knowledge of classical and contemporary Islamic disciplines. The program aims to strengthen students’ understanding of core Islamic sciences, enhance critical thinking, and develop research and analytical skills relevant to the modern academic and intellectual environment.

Eligibility Criteria

Associate’s degree from a recognized university with 60 credit hours, and successful completion of the faculty’s courses with a minimum of 50% marks.
Associate Degree (Islamic Studies) with 60 credit hours, securing at least 50% marks.
Shahadat ul-Aaliyah degree with at least 50% marks and must have passed the compulsory subjects as per the HEC Policy

Workshop

The online workshop for each course will comprise of 12 hours, with 2 hours daily for 6 days except for the teaching practice and project as per AIOU policy. Each semester will have a workshop for the courses offered in that particular semester. There will be an online quiz for every course at the end of the workshop.

Introduction

Bachelor of Science in Islamic Finance 4 Years, 2.5 Years and 2Years program offered by the Department of Islamic Thought, History, and Culture, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), Islamabad. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Islamic finance principles, practices, and Shariah principles. The B.S. in Islamic Finance program is developed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the dynamic industry of Islamic finance while adhering to the principles of Islam. Students will delve into core subjects, including Islamic banking, finance, and shariah principles, complemented by a robust curriculum in Islamic business and economics.

Eligibility Criteria

Associate Degree holders in Islamic Studies With Minimum 60 Credit Hours, or Equivalent (with 50% marks), who want to enroll in the same discipline, will be directly enrolled in the 5th Semester.
Candidate having Shahdat-ul-Aleya (50% marks) with B.A degree or passing compulsory subjects as per requirement of HEC
Candidate having F.A or Equivalent with Shahdat-ul-Aleya (50% marks) degree can join B.S Islamic Studies Programs in 5th Semester after passing General Education (GEC) courses as per HEC/AIOU rules before completion of B.S Program.

Introduction

OBJECTIVE

The program objectives for a B.S. in Islamic Finance should align with the overall goals of providing students with a comprehensive education in Islamic finance principles, ethics, and practices. Here are some potential program objectives:

To develop a deep understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts of Islamic finance, including Sharia-compliant financial instruments, contracts, and transactions.
To Equip Students with practical skills necessary for analysing, designing, and implementing Sharia-compliant financial solutions in various economic contexts.
To Cultivate Ethical values and a sense of responsibility in students, emphasizing the importance of social justice and sustainability in Islamic finance practices.
To Promote Critical Thinking and Research Skills, enabling students to analyze and evaluate financial issues from an Islamic perspective and contribute to the advancement of Islamic finance knowledge.

Eligibility Criteria

HSSC/Intermediate/Equivalence.
Matric with Khassah certificate from HEC Recognized Madaris/Boards with the compulsory condition that they will pass three Basic Courses as per requirement of IBCC, before completion of BS Program.

Introduction

The Department of Islamic Thought, History and Culture has been offering PhD Islamic Studies. At present the Department is offering M.Phil based Ph.D program. The Ph.D students are required to complete specific course work & research work under the supervision of a qualified supervisor. This Program requires 3 to 5 years’ time for completion. The students complete research work under qualified supervisors, however the degree is awarded after the evaluation of the thesis by three foreign experts from technologically advanced countries as per required Criteria of HEC. This Program is designed to carry out research in different fields of Islamic Studies so that new aspects can be discovered & students can exercise independent critical judgment through the research skills for the service of Islamic & Muslim communities.

Eligibility Criteria

MPhil Islamic Studies or equivalent from any recognized university in first division or C.G.P.A 3.00 out of 4.00.
Departmental Test and Interview by the PhD Admission Committee

Selection Process

All applications will be evaluated on the basis of approved criteria in the light of HEC instructions and AIOU rules. Only Short-listed candidates will be called for Departmental test and interview.
