Print Production Unit (commonly known as the PPU) was established as a department of the University in 1982 consistently to cater for the printing requirements of the University Academic, Administrative and Servicing department. The requirement of printing job varies in termers of technical aspects and throughout the calendar year, the provision of required printing material is ensured in an efficient and effective manner. In order to cater the enormous printing demand of the various departments of the University, the University installed its own printing press in 1991 under an assistance program of the Oversees Development Administration (ODA), UK. After that the printing press also equipped with the most advance and automated printing machines with the support of JICA Program. It is pertinent to mention that printing machines available/working at AIOU printing press are unique and this is an honor for the University that such a professional setup is available under one roof in a public sector university across Pakistan.

FOCUS:
As the most imperative aspect of facilitation through provision of books and allied material among our major stakeholders who are students of AIOU, we are focused on the improvement in our operational matters by adopting technological advanced performance monitoring measures of the machines and respective human resources, thus enabling us to deliver the deliverables in an efficient manner and ensuring the effectiveness of the whole system which will contribute towards the qualitative processes and mutual trust among all stakeholders.
WAY FORWARD:
Our department’s focus is on the adoption of technological advancement in reference to the incremental and efficient production capacity of our printing setup. We have planned to revamp the overall structure of our existing printing setup by inclusion of additional most advanced state of the art printing machines along with recruitment of highly skilled human resources which will eventually result in the achievement of short term and long term objectives related to the performance optimization in an effective manner.
